40% of Japanese men in their twenties say they have never had girlfriend
A new survey by Recruit Marketing Partners has some shocking results.
41.6% of men in their twenties say they have never had a girlfriend. Only 26.% of unmarried people in their twenties, thirties or forties say they have a lover.
On the other hand, before we write off the Japanese male as a “sexless beast” — 64.% said they “want a lover”, so perhaps the issue is just one of working too long and not having the time to chase after a partner.
We’ve seen this kind of sex and relationship survey before and they always seem to have headline-grabbing results: 45% of Japanese women hate sex; 40% of Japanese men are virgins; 81% of Japanese women want an older lover; 30% of Japanese men have no experience of dating, etc etc.
This particular internet poll was carried out in September in the Tokyo area with 2,100 people.
Those who had had a partner mostly answered that they met them through work or class, revealing that partner introduction services would seem to have limited mainstream usage.
The biggest reason for why respondents said they had no partner was “because I have no chance to meet one”. Too many long hours in the office, it seems. These horny twentysomethings should be out there trying to meet and screw!
