da fuck pays electronic homage to Japanese porn star Mihane Yuuki

da fuck, a project by French musician Marc Durand, has created an album featuring only sounds taken from the porn catalogue of AV star Mihane Yuuki (aka Mihane Yuki).

Literally “not one external sound” was used for the album 美羽ゆうきに、僕のすべての愛敬。 (All my love for Mihane Yuuki.).

Actually, it’s not what you think. If you’re expecting just screaming girls and squirting sounds, think again. It’s much more, well, melodic and interesting than that. It’s actually quite thought-provoking to listen to, since you try to imagine what the original context was for each sound. And you marvel at Durand’s skill at turning this into music.

Mihane Yuuki is a relatively minor porn star with seven titles to her name. Why did Durand/da fuck choose her? And just how did he make the sounds? We asked him!

Tokyo Kinky: Who is “da fuck”?

Just me, Marc Durand, ever since 1997, when I was a teenager and wanted to have a band. I thought I can’t live a normal teenage life without having a band.

Tokyo Kinky: Where did you get the idea/inspiration for this amazing project?

Since several albums ago I have made videos with DVDs. And one day, watching a JAV movie (like almost every day), I thought that it would be interesting to use the beautiful shots of the film, and search for every good shots of all the JAV movies that I have and make an album with the sounds of all the movies and a DVD.

Tokyo Kinky: How/why did you choose Mihane Yuuki? Why not another Japanese porn star?

In February 2014, I tried to make a song for this project, and naturally I picked the sound of, by very far, my favorite JAV actress. And so I thought that it will be more beautiful if I stick with only one actress, like a declaration of love!

I came across Mihane on August 13th, 2013 with MDS-759 and I had a big crush on her, more than had ever happened to me to this point with another actress.

I made an album with her to give me the sensation of having a sort of a relationship with her and to maintain my interest in her. (You have to know that her last movie came out on October 2013!)

So now I have a picture framed of her in my living room. I made myself a t-shirt with her face. You can see this on my Tumblr dedicated to her. And I paid for someone to make subtitles of her movies… (that I share).

Tokyo Kinky: Why Japanese porn in the first place?

I have had a lot of interest in porn since my teenage years (I’m 34 years old). First with American and French porn… But I lost interest in it over the years: too much gonzo movie with girls having way too much make-up on and performing really bad in front of a camera.

I have always liked the Asian type of girl, but have never found, or ben able to find, one that I can find attractive in porn. And on February 14th, 2013, I came across a full movie with Maho Aiuchi (JAV-019) on Tube8, and that was very different to all the porn I had watched before — more kinky, maybe, with a beautiful girl, and light make-up, and she was able to perform well in a front of the camera. That is what always suprises me in JAV, most of the girls perform very very well.

I watched 2 hours of JAG-019 twice today and ordered some DVDs. I feel I re-found my teenage masturbating years thanks to JAV!

So that why I made an album with Japanese porn. It never could be with American or French; I was not fan of any other actresses like I am with Mihane. Nor was I a fan of the genre, it was just helpful for masturbating… and now, thanks to JAV, it’s a passion.

Tokyo Kinky: You are quite the Japanese AV fan! The sounds are incredible. We can hear some voices but many sounds are mysterious. What kinds of sounds did you use?

For the melodies, I only used her voice, that’s all, but with effects and pitch, of course.

Tokyo Kinky: How long did the project take you?

I start working on this project in February 2014, and the album came out in October 2014.

Tokyo Kinky: What has the response been like?

I had more responses that from my usual work. People have been curious and seem surprised that it is not a vulgar, unintelligent, uncaring, misogynist album.

Tokyo Kinky: What’s next for the project?

I’m not the kind of amateur electronic musicien to make an album every month like certain do. I like to take time to make the thing right. My next project is to make a live concert with the Mihane project, with no audience, in my flat, with a work on the scenographie. It will be filmed and recorded to be a CD-DVD.

And after that, I don’t know. It’s hard to leave Mihane, because to make music with an “featuring” like that got attention and I’ve had some articles on the web.

But the dream would be for Mihane to hear about this project, so I have to get some Japanese websites talking about the project. I really wonder how she would take it…

Tokyo Kinky: Have you visited in Japan?

Sadly not yet, but I plan to. It’s funny that my love for this country started with porn. Now I try to learn Japanese. And I read books about Japan and watch all the documentaries I can find.
