Kyoto man arrested for forced use of vibrator on female customer at hair salon
On May 31, Kyoto police arrested a 37-year-old man who runs a hair salon in the city on suspicion of “quasi-forced indecency.”
Teppai Kozaki is accused of forced use of a massager on a woman.
The charge relates to an act allegedly done quite some time ago — February last year — in which Kozaki sexually assaulted a female customer in his salon for 40 minutes.
The 24-year-old woman was lying back in a chair to get her hair dyed when Kozaki allegedly started to use a massager on her genitals over her clothes. It is unclear how the victim reacted and whether she attempted to escape but was held down by Kozaki during the 40 minutes.
At the time, the woman was 22. He is supposed to have “tricked” her by suggesting he try out a massager on her.
Massagers in Japan also function as vibrators, especially the wand massagers that have large, useful heads for stimulating the clitoris and nipples.
It is not clear if the massager Kozaki used was a genuine massager (for use on muscles, etc.) or one of the many that resemble massagers but are actually intended as sex toys.
Kozaki has denied the charge.
He was previously arrested and detained on May 11 for forced indecency and confinement (of another woman, a 19-year-old female customer who he locked in his salon and groped).
This new arrest is a fresh charge. The distinction between the charges is a little unclear to us, nor why he wasn’t charged with it initially along with the first charge, but it sounds like the usual Japanese police tactic of holding someone for a long time and extending the detention through rearrest on new charges in order to get a confession.
