Gravure idol Ayano Sumida warns fans to behave after incident at DVD launch

The gravure idol and actress Ayano Sumida has released a statement about inappropriate physical contact at a launch event she recently held.

On January 27, Sumida posted on social media about “contact” with someone that wasn’t included in the “perks” that attendees had purchased.

The incident took place on January 25 at a launch event for her third DVD, Secret Paradise. She was coy about the exact details and circumstances, but we are assuming that there was some degree of physical contact that was inappropriate or not allowed (perhaps a hug or attempted hug).

“Should such cases arise, I will take appropriate actions,” she warned. “Due to a few people, I won’t be able to hold events and meet my fans, which makes me sad. I hope you can all follow the rules next time.”

Sumida plans to release a new photo book — her second — in February and it will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old continues to hold such meet-and-greet events.

Following the Haruna Kojima incident last year, when the model and entrepreneur was shoved to the ground outside after holding a fan event, idol management is probably more cautious. And memories of the notorious AKB48 saw attack 10 years ago, which left two idols injured, are still relatively fresh.
