Yuki Kashiwagi makes gravure comeback with new photo book
Former AKB48 idol Yuki Kashiwagi appears on the cover of the current issue of Weekly Young Jump, making a striking gravure comeback as she launches her latest photo book, Time Capsule.
The book went on sale on January 29 and brings together 14 years of shoots for Weekly Young Jump. Apparently it’s so packed with photos that it weighs a full kilogram (about 2.2 pounds). Yukirin did her first cover shoot for the weekly magazine way back in 2010.
You’ll have to get the magazine if you’re a true fan, though, since the cover shoot isn’t included in the new photo book, which is her fourth print book and her first since 2021, which was arguably her sexiest yet.
The new photo book is shot by Takeo Dec and published by Shueisha, which also publishes Weekly Young Jump.
Kashiwagi enjoyed a remarkably long tenure in AKB48, joining in 2006 and not graduating until 2024. These days, she seems to mainly make a living as a TV tarento and through her YouTube channel.
While we are not especial fans of Yukirin per se, we have to confess a certain amount of nostalgia whenever we see her pop up in the gravure or idol news stories because the height of her fame (and AKB48’s) dates back to around when we first start doing this blog.
And just as she is continuing to do shoots and reward her fans, so are we still monitoring the scene and writing up stories for readers. Long may that continue.
