Boyfriend Hug Speakers audio device wraps arms around lonely female music fans
Some women are so lonely they need a man’s comforting arms around them all the time — even when they listen to music.
Or so it would seem if you believe the latest clickbait.
This time, the purveyor of the headline-screaming story is a Japanese company called Otome Yusha, which literally means “Hero of Maidens.”
It has come up with a concept audio device called the Boyfriend Hug Speakers, which may be the most arresting way to listen to music ever — especially if you do it outside in public.
The Bluetooth-enabled speakers are integrated into a pair of “arms” that the user wears around her shoulders for a particularly intimate and personal audio experience.
The arms, which are decidedly muscular, also come with a “head” that has a typically pretty boy otome game character face on it.
The speakers can also be set up so that they are “sit” by themselves, as if the man is sitting there in front of you.
Before we start shouting “wacky Japan” again, keep in mind these speakers are not actually available and are likely just a marketing stunt. Indeed, Otome Yusha is the company behind an eponymous otome RPG and naturally this is all good publicity for the game.
The producers are running a Twitter campaign, though, to give away the prototype device to one lucky person, presumably a lady. So there is a genuine chance that we might see these speakers in use around Tokyo.
