Call Boy sex scenes offer explicit glimpse into life of Japanese male prostitute

Prompted by a reader’s tweet, we are looking today at the sex scenes from a Japanese film. Called Shonen (娼年) in Japanese, or Call Boy in English, it was released in 2018. An adaptation of a book by Ira Ishida, the title basically says it all. Tori Matsuzaka plays a male prostitute, who gets the chance to service some beautiful Japanese actresses in a series of graphic sex scenes.

With this movie, there’s frankly a lot of material to choose from and the following are just a few highlights. (Our apologies for the variable quality of the images.)

First up in the cast of note is a Tokyo Kinky regular: former AKB48 idol Ami Tomite, who is no stranger to sex scenes and nudity, having previously stripped off for the pinku eiga Antiporno and, more recently, The Naked Director.

In Call Boy, Matsuzaka has sex with Tomite on a bed, licking her large breasts and going down on her, all while another hot woman (played by Sei Matobu) watches.

Like Tomita, gravure model and actress Kokone Sasaki has established a reputation for being open to doing nude photo shoots and explicit sex scenes, and here she continues to solidify this with a sex scene in which she is screwed from behind while another man watches and films. She also made a big impression at the official press event for the film with her bust-revealing dress.

Ruri Shinato bares her lovely breasts in her cute sex scene. A gravure idol and actress, Shinato also performed sex scenes in the TV series The Naked Director.

Yuki Sakurai’s sex scene is probably the best and longest. You get to see her awesomely pokey tits as our man kisses her body and fingers her furiously until she squirts, which is perhaps the first example of a sex scene with squirting that we have seen in a mainstream Japanese film (tell us in the comments if there are others). They then fuck hard, including a great shot of her grinding in his lap before he flips her over to screw her from behind (even holding her legs so she is virtually floating in the air).

Incidentally, Sakurai also did an explicit sex scene in The Limit of Sleeping Beauty (2017).

Mai Ohtani is a lesser-known actress, though — in something of a running theme — she also appeared in The Naked Director with a great sex scene. Her sex scene in Call Boy is a hard fuck from behind in a doorway that ends on the floor.

Other sex scenes involve the likes of Yuri Hagino as a horny housewife.

In general, the film mixes gritty realism, such as the mechanics of doing the 69 position and putting on condoms before penetration, with some more dreamlike sequences, and it should be said that most of the sex takes place in dark rooms. Still, there’s a lot of female and male nudity on display. Nonetheless, despite the ostensible focus on female pleasure in the narrative and the concessions to female viewers with gratuitous shots of Matsuzaka’s admittedly well-toned buttocks, we do wonder if the whole enterprise is not ultimately filtered through the usual male gaze. After all, the sex mostly involves hard thrusting or vigorous fingering. In our humble experience, a lot of ladies like to take things slow and gentle . . .

If this all seems surprisingly explicit for a mainstream Japanese film, especially one involving such a popular male star, the name of the director Daisuke Miura should clear up the mystery. Originally from the theater, Miura previously adapted his own play Love’s Whirlpool into a film that featured some graphic sex scenes (and effectively launched the career of Mugi Kadowaki). Miura also wrote and directed a 2016 stage version of Ishida’s two Shonen books, which had again starred Matsuzaka in the title role.
