Toka Irino, the case of the disappearing new gravure idol
Detectives Tokyo and Kinky are on the case — the case of the gravure idol who disappeared immediately prior to her debut DVD release.
Toka Irino (入野十香) is a 19-year-old Japanese girl with an I-cup bust (and a face somewhat similar to Nana Komatsu’s). She was set to release her first gravure image video this month, but all traces of her releases have now vanished online. Her upcoming DVD appears — untitled and without a cover image — with a “production canceled” notice on online shops or is no longer listed at all. Her official Twitter account, which she launched in November 2021 and had close to 10,000 followers, is now gone. Her industry debut has been effectively scrubbed from the internet.
Netizens are speculating about the cause. Did someone find out her real name and it made her backtrack? Was she actually underage?
Of course, as regular readers will know, the Japanese porn industry has been rocked by accusations of coercion, leading to arrests, court cases, and lots of bad publicity. Even this blog received a formal legal notice to remove images of one such performer who successfully got her porn releases scrubbed offline and online because she had been coerced into the contract.
Is this a similar situation?
It’s possible and coercion is not limited to the adult video industry. Gravure too is notorious for its harassment, bad pay, and the casting couch, though we can’t think of another example of a brand new gradol who “vanished” right before her first release.
But here’s the thing about gravure: there are so many models competing for those prestigious shoots in the weeklies and for DVD sales, when one retires — or even “vanishes” — there are always a hundred more waiting to take her place.
