Female thighs fetish photographer Yuria makes comeback with autumn-themed exhibition
The hugely successful series of “Futomomo” thigh fetish photography shows by Yuria hit a snag in the spring, when allegations and outrage over young models prompted the cancellation of an exhibition at Ikebukuro Marui, a major department store. And then came another development: a lesbian-themed photography exhibition, also in Tokyo and also featuring Yuria’s work, was then cancelled for dubiously unclear reasons.
The good news is that Yuria is back with more of her usual erotic yet tasteful photography.
“The World of Thighs Photography Autumn 2018” has a fall theme, ideal as the weather slowly and finally shifts from the dog days to the cooler and clement Japanese autumn. Welcome in the new season with this host of beautiful female legs — over 500 photos and 1,000 legs, according to the publicity!
The exhibition takes place not in Tokyo, where venues seem to like cancelling such shows, but at Nagoya’s Todays Gallery Studio from August 31st to September 24th. Admission costs ¥700, though entry is free for visitors aged 3 or under (so… bring your kids!).
In April and May, Yuria held the solo exhibition that had been scheduled for the Marui department store at Chromatic Gallery, a venue in Harajuku. Despite having attracted over 40,000 visitors to her shows so far, we suspect she won’t try large department stores again any time soon. Subcultures should stay “sub,” it seems, or risk getting cut down to size.
