Japan and the “cute” duck-face pout fetish
Much like the yaeba snaggletooth phenomenon, the Japanese trend of the duck face has both fascinated and revolted foreigners.
Japanese girls make the duck-face pout (ahiru-guchi) as they think it makes them look cute and attractive to men. You look “dumb” and submissive, and, since Japanese ladies don’t usually have much in the way of busts or butts they have to make up for it by charming gentlemen with their faces.
Classic duck-face advocates include Tomomi Itano from AKB48, singer Yuki, and voice actress Aya Hirano, though it can look sexier in the context.
It was first used in the late Nineties to talk about singer Ami Suzuki and the word entered the Japanese dictionary in 2006.
So what do you guys out there think? Sexy or not?

Mihiro has real cute duck face. I guess it’s used to simulate the engorged vulva and work on men on the subconscious level. It’s no different than the disgusting practice in the West of silicone injections of the lips. Like Pamela Anderson or Angie Jolie. I prefer the Asian natural lips over the Western plastic tubes of silicone.
@Jonzes
Yes, agree about western fetish with lips a la Angelina Jolie etc.
The Japanese duck face and other kinds of “popular” facial types or expressions seem different in that they often focus on the girl trying to look “cute”, rather than “sexy”. Cute is sexy, apparently. However, a lot of this is also just amplified by the media!
