Japan’s sexiest female writers
We are prone to the charms of an intelligent woman and so we wanted to showcase some of the lovely artisans of the pen that occupy these shores.
Gravure models are all well and sexy, but sometimes a penetrating mind can be much more enchanting on the eye than its bookish stereotype would have you believe…
Kamiko Inuyama (犬山紙子)
Sultry essayist and columnist, Kamiko Inuyama, on top of having an unusual name, has made it her job to tell the world about beautiful girls who just don’t have any luck with guys. When you look as amazing as Ms. Inuyama (b. 1981), we find that really hard to believe!
Mieko Kawakami (川上未映子)
Mieko Kawakami (b. 1976) is from Osaka (always a sexy point) and probably the most famous lady on our short list. She is an award-winning novelist (more sexy points). And she’s a singer and occasional actress. Unfortunately she loses marks for being married (for the second time) and now a mother. Still, nobody’s perfect and Kawakami comes pretty damned close!
Mariko Asabuki (朝吹真理子)
Ms. Asabuki (b. 1984) comes from a literary family and is an award-winning novelist from Kansai! If you hang around Nakameguro in Tokyo you can sometimes catch glimpses of her. Well, we did once!
Akiko Higashimura (東村アキコ)
The author of Himawari: Kenichi Legend and Princess Jellyfish, Akiko Higashimura (b. 1975) is a mangaka not only talented and popular, but who has also experienced a fair slice of life, having married, given birth, and then divorced.
Honorable mentions go to Mami Amemiya (雨宮まみ) and Aoko Matsuda (松田青子).
