K-Pop idol group Ladies’ Code EunB killed in car accident, Sojung and Rise injured
It’s not easy being in an idol group. Constantly shuttling from photo shoot to TV appearance to recording studio to media interview. No real private life. Always under the watchful eye of your minders and agency controllers.
And now we have the sad news yesterday that Korean idol group Ladies’ Code has lost one of its members in a traffic accident on a drive from Busan to Seoul.
EunB was killed and Sojung and Rise hurt, the latter critically, when a vehicle carrying all five members of the idol group crashed into a guardrail at 1.30 in the morning on Wednesday.
Other passengers were also hurt, including the group’s support team. EunB (real name Go Eun-b) had been with the group since its debut in 2013. She was 21 years old.
Ladies’ Code had just released a new single in August.
K-pop acts Infinite and Dal Shabet have also apparently been involved in traffic accidents recently in similar conditions, as idols try to cram in as much into their schedules as possible. Korea is said to have the second-worst safety record in the world, behind Mexico.
The #RIPEunB became the top trending hashtag on Twitter worldwide on Wednesday.
UPDATE: There is now sad news that Rise (Kwon Ri-sae) has also died from her injuries in the accident.
