New Sweets Hotel in Shibuya is cookie-themed love hotel with chocolate baths
It takes a lot to stand out amid a crowd, and this love hotel just did it.
Shibuya’s Dogenzaka is famously jam-packed with love hotels and they use garish colors and strange names to attract the attention of potential guests. That said, most are pretty tame in terms of the exterior design: with some exceptions (like the castle-themed Meguro Emperor, for instance, or some of the wacky places in Namba and Nipponbashi, Osaka), the hotels with really outlandish architecture and surreal rooms are mostly located in more rural or suburban regions.
As recently spotted and shared by Twitter user Ambroise Velvet (who also took these pictures), Sweets Hotel is indeed sweet and promises to deliver sugary love for visiting couples.
The hotel actually seems to be two hotels/buildings/wings immediately opposite each other in one of the mazy streets of the hilly Dogenzaka district of Shibuya. Those with more experience and knowledge of those alleyways and establishments have identified that at least one of the buildings is where the Hotel Case Nova once stood, which seems to have undergone a rebranding and major renovation.
One building is pink (Sweets Hotel Ruby) and one is brown (Sweets Hotel Chocolate), but both feature the titular theme by being covered by cookies, donuts, and sugary treats galore. It’s the Hansel and Gretel love hotel!
As we know, love hotels have a big focus on amenities these days as they compete for yen, and Sweets Hotel Ruby’s selling point seems to be the chocolate baths offered to people using the rooms.
Neither Sweets Hotel Ruby nor Sweets Hotel Chocolate appears to be open yet, but should be ready to welcome guests very soon. We hope to report back about the baths after paying a visit!
