Pharmacist and gravure idol Serina Fukui announces marriage

There is something of a minor trend among gravure idols to emphasize their academic background. If they come from a prestigious or famous college, this is often made a significant part of their appeal.

And so it was when Serina Fukui first burst onto the gravure scene a few years ago. The pharmacy student at Keio University — one of the most prestigious private colleges in Japan — was praised for her curvy charms and her brains. And it was the latter that made the former even better.

Having graduated from Keio, Fukui now works as a regular pharmacist in Tokyo but has continued her modeling and tarento career on the side. The latter will probably take a back seat in the future, though, as the 28-year-old announced on October 13 via social media that she has got married.

She actually already graduated from gravure in October 2021 with a final digital photo book and joined a new agency at the start of this year to focus on TV tarento gigs.

Her husband, who remains anonymous, is one lucky guy.

The pics she posted on Instagram show her looking stunning and svelte in a figure-hugging wedding dress.

Other examples of brainy gravure idols with impressive alma maters include Minami Fukuoka (Tokyo University of Science), Reina Triendl (Keio), Mariko Seyama (also Keio), Fumika (University of Tokyo), Naomi Trauden (Keio yet again!), and Asako Tani (Hosei University).

There are also examples of Japanese porn stars who hail from prestigious universities like Rumina Yuki (Gakushuin University), Mao Watanabe (Waseda University), and Saiko Yatsuhashi (Keio).

Incidentally, the ranks of Japan’s pretty female TV news casters (announcers) and presenters are famously filled with graduates from colleges like Sophia, Aoyama Gakuin, and International Christian University — and which is why guys often want to go to these colleges too.
