Political candidate wants to ask Japanese prime minister about his taste in porn
We have written before about political candidate Yukiko Kaname, who is hoping to win election one day as a Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker.
Having failed to win a seat in 2022, the sex-positive feminist Kaname is undeterred and her main campaigning revolves around key issues related to equality for sex workers.
With a Lower House election likely to happen this year, the 47-year-old Kaname is still working hard to make a name for herself among potential voters.
She recently stirred up controversy by promising a since-deleted tweet to ask the prime minister if he has ever watched porn. Everything said in a Diet hearing is a matter of public record and lying is essentially illegal, so it’s quite a provocative thing to do.
“If I become a lawmaker, I want to ask Prime Minster Kishida a question: Have you ever watched adult videos? If so, what genre?”
In all seriousness, Kaname hopes that by raising such a question in the Diet, it can contribute to a debate about the social status of the AV and sex industry.
The tweet, which Kaname more likely posted on May 15 just to get attention than as a genuine promise, quickly got netizens feverishly speculating about 66-year-old Kishida’s JAV preferences.
Kaname is also a supporter of the campaign to reform the new porn law, introduced to provide safeguards against coercion but which many in the industry say has gone too far, and not only restricts productions too severely but ultimately bolsters underground and illegal productions.

why is it controversial to admit you watch porn? everyone does. pretending otherwise should be the controversial stance
