Sailor Fuku Ojisan schoolgirl uniform cosplay old guy Hideaki Kobayashi questioned by police
What were we saying yesterday about the police?
Well, now they’ve turned their attention to someone who has been delighting Tokyo in recent months.
Twitter has been abuzz with images snapped of an old guy wandering the city dressed in sailor school uniform cosplay and very happy to pose for pictures.
He has companions who dress up with him!
He even went to France dressed like that.
The “seeraa fuku ojisan” (sailor school uniform old guy) is actually Hideaki Kobayashi, aged around 50.
His cult has grown to the extent that he’s been interviewed by the press and reported on by overseas media. Even Vice made a short film about him!
Those looking for a complex answers to why he indulges in the cosplay may be stumped, though.
“That’s a tricky question… It’s not really something I’ve thought too deeply about…. I guess it’s because sailor school uniforms look good on me?”
But could the authorities be seeking to put an end to this piece of harmless counterculture? At a recent encounter with Kobayashi in public, Osaka police were snapped talking to Kobayashi.
Apparently the teenagers with whom he had been larking around were the ones who then called the coppers on him. Saying that, it looks like it was in Ebisubashi in central Osaka where there is a police box smack in the middle and the cops are often prowling for suspicious characters.
We are not sure what the outcome of their interrogation was but we sincerely Kobayashi continues his joyful cosplay fun around Tokyo!
His Twitter account is still very active so we can hopefully assume there will be no repercussions to his brush with the law.
See Tumblr for thousands of pictures of the lovable old guy.
