June 16, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
Kiyoshi Hayashishita, the famous father of a dozen children and star of long-running reality TV show "Big Daddy", has told a tabloid of a side-line he used to do to earn extra cash.
"I was a driver for a delivery health [a euphemism for call girl services]. The hourly rate was ¥5,000. It was just four hours but you could earn ¥20,000 in a night. It was a really good part-time job."
He also explains how the drivers -- who take the girls by car to the love hotels and often wait -- also function as bouncers when things go wrong.
He sometimes had to take along a wooden sword to ...

May 27, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
There recently appeared online a Q&A with someone who claimed to work for a sex club (fuzoku), inviting Japan's netizens to throw out questions.
Here is a selection of the results...
What type of sex club is it?
"Wife" hotel delivery.
Have you ever hit a customer demanding to go the whole way with a girl?
I've made a copy of someone's driver's licence before.
Do you spend money on STDs?
We get checked [the girls] out.
Where do you recruit women?
Online.
If yours is a "wife"-style sex club, then I guess your customers are mostly young?
In the mornings there ...
Hashimoto tells US to “use prostitutes” in Japan
May 15, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
Outspoken Osaka mayor and founder of the Japan Restoration Party, now Japan’s third largest party, Toru Hashimoto has got himself in hot water over some comments he made about the "comfort women" during the war and his recommendations for how to avoid rapes in Okinawa.
Hashimoto, no stranger to getting noticed by provocative comments, told reporters in Osaka on on Monday that the "comfort women" (local women forced into prostitution by the colonizing Japanese forces in Asia during the war) were necessary in order to maintain military discipline.
The women “were necessary in ...
Hurray for good customer service.
Over on Tokyo Reporter we read a interesting little summary of a tabloid article that claims Abenomics -- the Japanese prime minister's fiscal policies aimed at bringing inflation -- are having no effect on the sex industry.
You can still head to a soapland and have a good time with all the foam and frolics for as little as 10,000 yen, and sometimes even lower in certain east Tokyo neighborhoods like Yoshiwara.
Abenomics might have raised the Nikkei by sixty percent but actually a price war has emerged between certain establishments in notorious ...
29-year-old Osaka teacher busted for prostitution to pay off make-up bills
May 3, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
It sounds like the plot of an ero manga but it's true, and could it only happen in Osaka?
A female teacher in Osaka working at a prefectural high school has been suspended for work for six months after it came to light that she was moonlighting as a prostitute.
The twenty-nine-year-old educator responded that "there is no excuse" for what she did and resigned.
Having accumulated debts of two million yen (at least two thirds of her salary, perhaps more) on credit card purchases of cosmetics and clothes, she turned to her other skills set to work off her loan.
She actually did ...
Man in forties has sex, films 100 high school girls… but does not pay
May 2, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
A 42-year-old man has been arrested for having sex with high school girls.
The company employee would approach girls on the street, offer to pay them ¥70,000 or even as much as ¥300,000 if he could also film the exploits.
After they were all finished at a hotel in Taito ward in Tokyo he would then ask them to wait on the street while he went to fetch money. Of course, that would be the last they would see of him.
He has claimed to have had sex with close to 100 high school girls in this way.
Likely if he had actually made good on his promise and paid the girls there ...
Shibuya sex services information center and pet shop make for marriage of convenience
March 13, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
If you have ever walked up Shibuya's Dogenzaka, the hill that leads you to the love hotel district and at night is populated by Chinese street prowlers, you may have noticed this muryo annaijo (literally, free information/guidance point).
There are lots of these kinds of stations around. They act as portals where you can get information (e.g., phone numbers) for prostitutes and other kinds of sex services, hostesses, and so on.
But this particularly conspicuous one stands out not least for its location, size and prominence as the bizarre pet shop Baby Doll right next door.
Talk about ...
Korean prostitution now 5% of GDP, 8.71 trillion won!
November 21, 2012
/ Tadashi Anahori
Korea has the infamy of "the nation of prostitution" and it gets even stronger as it exports its biggest asset (and no, we don't mean Samsung).
Along highways you used to find lines of sex shops with open windows like the chon no ma you get in Ueno, Kawasaki or in Osaka.
In the old days Korean sex shops used to be a hair salon but in the back room there would be "extra" services. However, since 2004 these kinds of places have disappeared. Likewise there used to be places that on the surface appear to be tea rooms that "delivered" things but with more on the menu that just ...
Osaka Nipponbashi defies recession, maid cafes turn super expensive
November 14, 2012
/ Megumi
Japan may well have recently officially entered recession again but that does not seem to impact Nipponbashi, Osaka's run-down area known for its electronics stores and sex industry (imagine Akihabara combined with Kabukicho).
Osakans have always had very good heads for business and it seems, despite the nation's economic woes, that Nipponbashi establishments are defying the overall turn towards offering cheaper goods and services a la UNIQLO et al.
Rather, they are cunningly ripping people off in the maid cafes and sex shops.
As reported over on Tokyo Reporter, one maid cafe in ...
Japanese man buys Brazilian girl’s virginity in Internet auction
October 26, 2012
/ Megumi
A Brazilian student has sold her virginity in an online auction for the princely sum of $780,000.
The stunt was filmed as part of a documentary by an Australian filmmaker, Jason Sisely, who began his project in 2009 by putting up posters in Sydney and Melbourne.
But it's tough if you're a guy; one man who auctioned himself only fetched $3,000. The 21-year old's auction was also part of the film film "Virgins Wanted" and his cherry was won by a Brazilian woman.
Catarina Migliorini, 20, had 15 bids fighting over her Hymen. In the end it was victory for the Japanese in the form a ...
