Train high school girl groper escapes, causes rush hour delays

If you’re going to be a train groper and run the risk of getting arrested, go the whole hog. That’s the lesson from this story, it seems. Choose a young, hot victim and don’t give up without a fight!

Monday is never a fun day. The weekend is over and people are not in the best of moods in the morning trek to the office. But Tokyo morning rush-hour trains were delayed this Monday for 19 minutes — a lifetime in Tokyo. Why? Because a man had groped a high school student.

That’s a daily occurrence on Tokyo trains, so much so the train companies have introduced women-only carriages on many lines.

But the problem arose because the man proved a nimble groper who evaded capture.

When called out on his wandering hands, he escaped passengers and train employees trying to grab him. He took off across the tracks, which is pretty bravado considering how many trains pass through Japan’s lines.

This caused a shutdown on some major Japan Rail lines, affecting 58,000 passengers on 36 trains.

The 18-year-old victim said the man had molested her while they were riding a local Keihin Tohoku train. The man is said to be in his forties.

The plucky groper (come on, who doesn’t like an underdog story?) was intercepted and almost captured at around 7:55 a.m. on the platform of JR Oji Station in Kita Ward. But he had the incredible idea to jump onto the tracks, scale the 2-meter fence, and then take off. Whether or not he made it to his workplace that morning is unsure, but many other people in Tokyo got to their desks late.

Trains were halted when a conductor on another train saw the alleged groper running along the tracks. The conductor, perhaps fearing a suicide attempt, immediately sent out an emergency signal which brought all trains in the area to a stop until the safety of the tracks could be assessed.

Police are still apparently hunting for the suspect. If you see a guy in his forties running along the tracks with a horny look in his eye, that’s our man!

A similar situation arose in 2007 when a groper escaped onto the tracks at JR Akabane Station.
