Watch an interview with Japanese porn star Roku Kuroi about her career
We are late to the party with sharing this but we just spotted an interview that prolific YouTuber Nobita did with Japanese porn star Roku Kuroi (黒居ろく).
Posted back in December last year, the interview, which is subtitled in English and Chinese, is provocatively called “Why This Japanese Girl Chose to Become a Porn Star.” The content, though, is not sensational but actually quite sensitive and insightful.
In the video, Kuroi, who is also a cosplayer, explains the difficult circumstances that led up to her becoming an adult video star. “When I appeared in porn for the first time, I thought this job was the perfect match for me.”
She talks about her past dealing with bullying at school and work (as a nurse), which made her vulnerable and with low self-esteem. She actually starts to cry midway through the interview as she recalls all this trauma. Kuroi is also very honest about her relationship with her family, who have begged her to quit her job as a porn performer. “I thought they’d completely disown me.” She has since tried to quit the industry but found it impossible to get a regular job.
Going back to porn gave her a boost. “I was actually so glad that I’m still in demand… The fact that [people wanted me to appear in porn] gave me a purpose in life.”
Nobita says he has lots more material from his interview with Roku Kuroi, which he may turn into further videos in the future.
The 27-year-old Roku Kuroi debuted in 2016 and is also known professionally as Nana Asahi (あさひ奈々), Mone Kamiki (神木百音), and Ikumi Kuroki (黒木いくみ).
