Japanese women (and porn stars) reveal their pubic hair shaving habits

We were pointed by Twitter user @Genzolico to this survey of Japanese women’s “underhair” habits.

Featuring some lovely revealing shots of JAV porn star Iori Kogawa, we feasted our greedy eyes on the pages, taken from Weekly Playboy magazine. The article promises to reveal the “secrets” of Japanese idols, AV stars and amateurs! (The survey itself is with amateurs, though.)

It’s not so recent — dating back to 2013, though we doubt habits have changed that much.

A hundred women aged 16 to 29 were asked what they did with their hair downstairs.

Some 36% trimmed or cut their bush 2-3 times a month. Only 20% dealt with hair at least once a week and 10% more scrupulous ladies did it 2-3 times.

23% were lazier, giving their hair attention only once every “few months.”

By far the most common method is using a razor (73%).

And to what extent do you shave and trim? What style do you go for? The V-line (triangular pubic hair shape, like the bikini line) was most common, at 56%, with those who attend to the full hat trick of V-line, I-line (along either side of the vulva, creating a slim and straight bush), and O-line (around the anus) ranking second with 23%.

Famously, Japanese girls are fastidious about their body hair, having their arms, stomachs and almost anywhere a follicle presents itself. Except, that is, their bush, which is generally much thicker and longer than an American or western European woman’s.

In fact, the hair is important in emphasizing that a woman is baring all.

Full-frontal nudity is known as a “hair nude”, since usually the groin is pixellated out somehow (in very old films they would place a black circle over the offending region). Seeing hair means you are getting the real deal, whereas in the west it’s the opposite approach: a woman goes paipan, fully shaved, to show off everything.

Miho Kanno’s nude photos show she has a trimmed but relatively full bush. Very nice.

A wider survey in 2014 of 1,000 women aged 20 to 69 found the following:

53% of the women said their public hair was “dense.” 56.2% of the women answered “Do you groom down there?” with a “I do nothing”!

So if you like your ladies fully shaved down there, perhaps come prepared with a razor on the first date.
